Our Musical Affirmations

Our first classroom gallery exhibit included dozens of quotes from a variety of individuals throughout history. The quotes expressed the positive influence and transformative power of music. We called them musical affirmations.

While walking through the gallery students recorded their three favorite quotes and wrote a statement explaining why they made their specific choices. After touring the gallery, students were asked to write musical affirmations of their own. They used their three favorite quotes as models. The next step was to create a decorative exhibit panel featuring their musical affirmations and highlighting their creativity. The gallery below features "musical affirmations" from seventh and eighth grade students.
