Hello, Music & Media students! Welcome to the new activities page on the Music & Media website.

When you visit this page you will find information on your daily class work, including lesson objectives, detailed instructions, related links, and embedded apps for recording your responses.

Number of Steps: 3

STEP 1: Take the Learning Styles Quiz

Let's find out if you are a more visual, auditory, or tactile learner. Click on the following link to take your quiz, and remember to write down you style percentages on your paper.

EXAMPLE: 45% Visual, 30% Tactile, 25% Auditory

STEP 2: Critical Listening and Written Response

Critically listen to the following song and write your responses for each of the three questions below.

Write your responses on your paper, the same one you used to record your learning style percentages.

Be sure to refer to the Writing Norms!

1. LISTEN ONLY - Don't write, just close your eyes and listen critically.

2. LISTEN AGAIN and WRITE YOUR FIRST RESPONSE: What was your initial emotional response to this song? WHY you feel this way about what you heard?

3. LISTEN AGAIN and WRITE YOUR ANALYSIS for the SECOND RESPONSE: What instruments did you hear in this song? Be as specific as you can!

4. CLICK THE LINK AND READ THE ARTICLE - Learn more about the song. http://performingsongwriter.com/otis-redding-sittin-dock-bay/

5. LISTEN AGAIN (if you want) AND WRITE A FINAL RESPONSE Did reading about the song change your opinion/feeling about it? WHY or WHY NOT?

STEP 3: Develop your Communication Skills

Now that you have critically listened to the song, applied your critical thinking skills, and written your responses, let's hear (and see) what you have to say about it!

1. Click on the Flpigrid link below

2. CAREFULLY READ the directions for recording your video response. 3. RECORD! - Introduce yourself and read your written responses. BE CONFIDENT! BE EXPRESSIVE!
