Making Connections: Music and Language

After two weeks of reading and performing from notation, students are making the strong connection between music and language. They are able to look at a line of rhythm, assign specific words that match in terms of syllables and stress, and perform from the notation with a high level of accuracy. This week our eighth grade students were asked to consider specific ways in which music connects with language and speech. They wrote short responses in their journals (see picture on left).
